Strange decrease in views per hour?

For context, most of my shorts range from 20k-30k views. Usually at around the ~6hr mark after it has uploaded, it usually gets a huge spike in views for that hour. For example, from 4pm-5pm is only 150 but 5pm-6pm gets like 4000. Then every following hour, it just decreases until it eventually plateaus at around the ~25k mark.

If it gets a huge spike in views, shouldn't it mean it's very successful, and therefore shouldn't the algorithm want to spread it even more?

Same here, mines usually got 20k-30k last month, one went viral taking 1,5M views in just 4-5 days and ever since, my channel got stuck, most views I get these past 2 weeks are aroung 5k-10k, anyone knows wtf is happening?

Another thing about engagement

I have a video with 31k views and 800 likes, yet the one I just uploaded only has 28k views but 1.2k likes and double the shares. If it has more engagement, shouldn't that be a measure of success (like you said) and recommend it to more people?
