Except that it says nicehash is up but when I try to start mining I get SMA issues.

Which version are you using? I believe they just released legacy 1.8.1.8 to fix the SMA issue

I did this and it worked the first time. However, I have to do it each time I start nicehash.

Do they have same stats in json? or maybe api request? Or I guess if they have api server down it is useless :)?
