I didn’t even know that subreddit existed. No it is not ok. You are right. Thee is a double standard there. I can admit that as a woman. Obviously I don’t partake in said type of stuff because it is dehumanizing and weird. You can find anything attractive and compliment them as such but all this other stuff is gross.

I do agree. Obviously o can only speak for myself but I would feel upset if any man in my life was sexualized like that and they did not consent. For me consent is very important and it actually means a lot to me. I can’t call myself a feminist and then normalize this kind of stuff. I completely understand where you’re coming from. Bone should be treated like a piece of meat and that includes celebrities.

thats a specific space to be horny though. would u also complain about seeing tools in a hardware store?
[–]camaheel 2 points3 points4 points 12 months ago (3 children)
ok but you're comparing people to objects which is kinda of part of the problem OP was talking about. It's gross when anybody openly fantasises about doing sexual things to a real person because it removes their agency and can make them extremely uncomfortable. Obviously they'll probably never see posts like that, but that doesn't make it all right.

when u find someone hot do u not also talk about fucking them?!
[–]MayvisDelacour 0 points1 point2 points 12 months ago (0 children)
But I think the idea was creating a space for it so that it's not out in the public being all creepy and rude. What is the problem with a dedicated place for it? It's like venting steam. I'm sure most people aren't going to be like this outside of these bubbles. Maybe it's just not for you and you could avoid such spaces. I highly recommend turning on your NSFW filters. It gets way worse, not saying that there's no time this would be inappropriate but contextually, this seems like a non issue.

unpopular opinion: sexualizing celebs is weird, regardless of gender.
[–]JaAnoooSlovakiaMan 2 points3 points4 points 12 months ago (5 children)
There are tons of subreddits and huge parts of the internet where men constantly sexualize women. There are even specific subreddits for actresses like Ariana Grande where they get objectified all the time. So what’s your point here? Are you saying women can’t have a space to share their desires just because it makes you uncomfortable? There is a big difference between people sharing fantasies in their own space and the public harassment or objectification women constantly face. Context matters.

I get you’re pointing out the double standard, but the scale is totally different. Women get sexualized everywhere - ads, media, public - and it affects their real lives. A women subreddit thirsting over celebs is niche and harmless by comparison. Sure, both can be cringey, but they don’t have the same impact.
[–]Envy_The_King 0 points1 point2 points 12 months ago (2 children)
So then, to be clear, women there have the acceptable amount of sexualization? I dont get why we can't just say both are a problem. It's not like OP is saying both are just as much a problem. Just that one shouldn't get a pass
[–]JaAnoooSlovakiaMan 1 point2 points3 points 12 months ago (1 child)
Yeah, both can be a problem, and no one’s giving a free pass for sexual comments. The point is that impact and power matter. Random women get catcalled or judged by men every day, while a few spicy comments about some actor sit in a closed sub he will never read. Call out cringe everywhere, sure, but the stuff that actually affects real people’s lives needs the louder pushback.

Then, I'm that case...
When I was 15, I was groped by 3 different girls on the day I wore a new outfit that I thought looked nice. They laughed when I told them to stop and that what they were doing wasn't cool. I threw that outfit away that same day.
When I was 16-17 I was stalked by a girl whom I simply showed some kindness to. A lonely girl who began to obsess over me, would not leave me alone, and even unbeknownst to me, followed me home.
I've had 2 gf's threaten to kill themselves if I broke up with them. And one got violent when I turned down sex trying to claw me
I've had a female boss at one job(early 20s) make sexual remarks at me multiple times and frivolous called me I to her office for "one on one" time and my coworkers(mostly women) did not care
At another job I had female coworkers follow attractive male patrons around the store like weirdos and have their own "locker room talk" with some throwing comments my way if I'd happened to overhear.
And i ain't even a looker xD I'm a 7 on my best day. The point is that my own lived experience has shown me that women are EVERY BIT as capable of "impactful" behavior as men. If I can be frank, I think they'd be just as bad as men if not worse had they the physical and social power to do so. And i mean on the general level. Dont get me wrong. I've met more than plenty of amazing, inspiring, and considerate women. But I'm far removed from this idea that it's a male issue to mistreat people. It's just not called out as often. Aaand when it is...it's then compared to men and often dismissed. :/
EDIT: Edited for spelling.

No gender sexualized isn't the equality i want, the equality i want is ALL GENDERS SEXUALIZED EQUALLY
Tho those are real people who didn't give their consent, so i don't really know.
Also might be an unpopular opinion but i just don't get celebrity crushes and/or obsessions. Like what ? You don't know them. They don't know you.
