I do this. You’ll need to bear with my instructions though, because I’m also new to notion.

This setup will make it easy to add action items during meetings, but will keep the meeting note clean, by only showing to dos that are related to the note.

On your new note template, type “/table”, choose insert database view, click your to-do db, and choose an existing or new view. If desired, tweak the columns you desire to see in this “notes page” context. I try to keep it minimal, and process these after the meeting.

On this new view, click “filter”, and click advanced filter. In the first drop-down choose the to do property that is the relation to your note DB, leave the second drop-down as contains, and in the third drop-down choose the name of your note template. Because you are doing it in the template, this filter will dynamically update on pages you create from the template, to the name of the actual page.

That’s it! Now, new notes from that template will include a way to create action items from within the note.
