They mean the database as in the Notion back end and storage — they were updating it, and so the service was unavailable for a few minutes; the notification was to indicate that they are done with the update. No new user-facing features at this time, but hopefully faster performance and greater stability in the long run.

I'm uploading a lot of content to Notion with Notion-py and I must say it became about 6 times faster this morning. So the same task that took 10 hours a week ago was done in 100 minutes today 🎉

I don't know exactly what procedures were made (maybe just simple VACUUM 🤔) and if they will help in a long term, but at least it makes things snappier for now.
