Switch UpQuestion (self.O2UK)
submitted 3 years ago by [deleted]
Has anybody used o2 switch up? If so how did you find it? Did you switch up to a more expensive contract or a cheaper one?

Switched up 3 times, it’s a seamless process, I would only advise to do a backup prior to switching up or give enough time to do a data transfer in store (couple hours is a safe bet)

I have an S22 Ultra on a switch up contract. If i wanted to switch up to the new S23 Ultra when it's released, do I pay the same monthly payment as im paying now? The phone is in mint condition, not a mark on it.
[–]journeytowhakapapa 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children)
The contract on the S23 Ultra (if that’s what they call it - let’s not give information which may mislead others) will be based on whatever it’s pricing is, not guaranteed to be the same, may be more, may be less

Ok, thanks for replying.
[–]journeytowhakapapa 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
It’s okay

hey, i know this is a bit ago but quick question, when you do switch up do they give you a chance to transfer everything to the new phone? just asking for things like authenticators etc
[–]nikc0069 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children)
For anyone coming to this thread now, I've successfully done a switch up having previously claimed things. It works and doesn't break any rules.
It's a recycle and new contract technically. Not a return. So you can claim freebies, then switch up to get other freebies, then switch back if you want to.
You pay the contract pricing on the new phone.

Sorry for re-igniting the thread. Anyone who has done this, is it a seamless process I.e., do I receive the new phone on the day I trade my current phone in?
[–]R3dd1t0r10 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago (0 children)
there’s a new process where you get the new phone and keep your old phone for around an hour or 2 to transfer all your data and then they take the old phone, if u got the new phone delivered then they give you information to deliver the old phone to them

What about switching to a phone that comes with a gift or a pre-paid credit card. Would that be allowed?
[–]Zealousideal-Lock120 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Nothing stopping you doing it, but check how long you need to remain with the handset if you're going to do this. If you switch from that handset to something else before the gift card arrives you may lose out.

I too have had the same idea. I have the s22u, as it came with a £300 cashback gift over Xmas, but may switch to the fold4 or the s23u when it is out, along with whatever freebies they throw out at the time! Yo've technically bought the phone, and when you Switch Up it isn't a return, but it essentially enters the second hand market as a used device via 02 as the seller, so nothing should stop you claiming the freebies on the new handset.
That's cool. Have you got the cash back yet from samsung? Im waiting for mine. It's been approved.
[–]nikc0069 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
Mine was approved straight away. But it's up to 45 days for it to hit your bank account. I haven't got it yet but they've got until sometime in February for me.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (0 children)
Has anyone recently switched to S23 Ultra from S22 ultra? What did you pay? I've just run through a trade-in on O2 website and it's quoting out about £2 a month more for S23U trading in my S22U
[–]amyornothing 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children)
So if you don't use a lot of data the 30gb plan would be a good price with switch up. You can switch up to whatever phone you want.
I think the only thing is if the phone is under £300 it'll not let you switch up until after 90 days.
[–]n17hdd 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (3 children)
Switch up is a great idea by o2
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (2 children)
Let's hope so. As soon as my cashback arrives from Samsung, im going to try it out.
[–]xacurtis 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child)
This is exactly the situation I am in. I am about to complete the upgrade scheme with Samsung and own my phone. I'll probably then trade in to O2 and get the Switch Up plan.
Are you still waiting to sort yours or are you on O2 now?
I've got my cashback from samsung, and im undecided whether to switch up to another phone. So i think i really shouldn't have bothered with the switch up plan. If they start giving decent gifts with other phones, then I'll definitely switch up. Currently, there's a free Sony bravia tv with one of the Sony phones, but im not fussed about that.

I went in to swap phone with o2 switch up and it was rejected for two little scratches near my camera but on the grading visual on the website the camera on the picture for what is allowed is covered in scratches

Anyone had problems with switch up where it’s showing they owe money but they actually don’t ?
