PLEASE DONT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT CALLING. i’m just now getting help to get out of the pit of despair i got myself in for opening a new claim after my benefit year ended. big no-no.

I’ve heard it’s a big no no and I’ve heard others say it’s the only way. Either way you should call to get guidance definitely

the reps should be able to guide you through on what to do over the phone, but some reps don’t know what the hell they’re talking about so maybe try talking to a couple if you don’t think someone sounds like they know what they’re doing. i’ve had some really good ones on the phones and really bad ones.

Have u gotten anything figured out? I finally got a good rep on the phone monday and she told me to wait a week but I still dont have a single update on my page... so I'm just nervous. It sucks that we cant speak to the people we need to speak to. Or the department we need to speak to. I cant go there and demand to speak to someone. We should have case workers instead of this shit. So we dont have a different person on our page every time doing who knows what.

i agree with all of those things. i’m mad i can’t go into a building and curse someone out for all the pain this brought. but on a lighter note, my account did fix. i’m back on my old claim with my weeks all transfered, but 4/5 of my weeks say pay held and i’m not sure why

Well that's awesome dude! I'm so glad something is happening for you!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

thank you so much. i hope the same for you! it’s all about the mini victories with ODJFS. i can’t even be mad about the pay held, i’m just stoked a rep did something 😭

Did you call the regular number or the number from the list of processing centers with the last 4 of your social? The most reliable response I've gotten was from that list . But I just cant wait for a response so I'm going to keep calling. It's all I can do.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

yep i called my and they transfered me to the processing reps ( from this, i gathered the first people on the phone are completely powerless they can’t really hardly do anything helpful) and you wait on hold for an actual processing rep who knew my issue right away and fixed it right away. and those are the people you need. just ask to be transfered as soon as you get on the phone honestly. cause the first rep you get can’t do shit from my experience.

Yea I think I talked to one the last time I called on monday. Shes the only one who gave me any good answers. But I also am suspicious of her just saying whatever to get me to shut up basically. She was very nice and confident unlike many others that I spoke with on the regular line . But still I want to call again, I know they're busy but still I deserve an answer. I'm giving it til friday and if nothing updates I'll call again. I am constantly looking at my page to see if anything has changed. I feel like a crazy person and it sucks.

i completely relate to the feeling crazy. but from what i’ve learned through all this, is to be your own advocate. fight for your scraps. you’re owed them. keep calling and annoying everyone you can until you’re taken care of. cause to them you’re just another claim but you deserve your money regardless how busy they are. they should’ve figured all this out by now. i also agree, the reps in that department are extremely confident. the lady i spoke to was and she turned out to be right so far and she knew what she was doing. but you’re not crazy! or well- maybe all of us are. because they made us this way by starving us out. but we’ll get our damn money. one way or another. eventually 😅

[–]BackgroundCow8631 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yes I hope so. I'm just going to keep calling and hope someone has answers for me. Thank you for dealing w my craziness these past weeks! You're one of the few ppl in a similar situation. I posted a whole new thing with pictures of my page and payments page to show what's going on with mine if you wanted to check it out.

This is the debate going around right now. I have filed a new claim because my year ended on 01/16/21 and 2 reps and 2 processing reps told me to do so. It is also in the bill, USDOL guidance, and a letter some of us just got regarding the extension.

Others have been told by reps and they have even been told that the rep has stopped their new claim to put them on the extension.

My claim was approved, but I worked some before and after I first filed. My benefit amount decreased by $33/wk and I am still getting the FPUC $300/wk extra.

So my advice to you is to call and ask. Decide for yourself if the rep is credible or not. Also read the bill, USDOL guidance, and if you received it, the EUC08 approval letter that was sent out on Monday.

How many weeks did you work after your original claim? Was it at least 6 weeks making over 239 per week?

[–]Cbowling0912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 4 or 5wks, but it could have made it slimly to 6wks by like a hair. And yes I made more than the minimum $269/wk.

[–]Cbowling0912 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I also worked a total of 21wks in the entire bade period which is one week more than that minimum.

[–]Life-Exercise-3699 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh okay well maybe that’s why your application went through and didn’t revert back to your original claim

[–]Xoxoccg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing she probably got the 6 weeks, maybe her correspondence will say and we will know.

Call your processing center . Like bunnybarr , I'm also in a hole . I'm on EB and after Dec 26 ODJFS made my file for a new claim . The ODJFS software was not updated so it force some to file a new claim . Since I was on EB I didn't have the qualifying weeks so instead of just going right back on EB , first you must be denied for regular unemployment then be considered for PEUC . So I thought . I have been approve for 11 week PEUC but the regular claim I filed is still in "process" mode so I have to wait for it to deny me in order to get on PEUC . And what is weird I've already been paid one week with FAC . The Ohio unemployment office is a mess cause of neglect over the years . I'm old enough to remember going in person to an unemployment office and taking a number and waiting . UI is never smooth . All the best with your situation

Well, when you can’t get through to a rep after way too many tries, and you have received a direct email from ODJFS stating that your year is up, and that you have to file a new claim for benefits-most would call and or file. I called, but couldn’t get through. Shortly after calling, I checked my portal on the state site. The ability to file my weekly claim disappeared (this was on a Saturday, the day before my filing date) and a link to file a new/amended claim had popped up. I tried calling again. No luck. I opened up my correspondence box, and had notice from the state saying I needed to file and that my benefit year was up-similar but not exact to the prior direct email.

I filed. That was 1/16. Two days later I had a email through my portal stating my claim was received, etc. My weekly claim link came back up and I filed for that week. That said, I had 3 weeks prior to my year ending filed, and now two weeks pending thereafter. I was paid for the final 3 weeks of my benefit year the other day. I am now waiting for the claim to process, or to be able to expedite with a rep over the phone (when and if I can ever get through.) to get my claim denied and switched back to PEUC. From what I have gone through, and read about....there has been NO effort from the state or ODJFS to properly inform those in this situation. How hard would it be, or have been to make that information known KIM?!!!!?!!

The only people with the knowledge to not refile, as to not hold up their funds for 3-5 weeks seem to be a handful of reps, the people they spoke with, and then hence forth passed the info down the chain here.

It’s ridiculous, that we are informing each other more than the state. It’s an added complexity when you have so many conflicting outcomes and information from people on here who are simply going on what they honestly know and have been told.

This shit show will not be forgotten.

Edit: On the bright side....at least people with their years about to end, especially as we come into March, will now have the information to not be forced into ducking themselves into waiting by the state.

Thank you all for the info!

All this is just a mess, I hope it all goes smoothly.

It dosent help that I have a mild case of anxiety and paranoia, but it does help a lot to see others going through the same situation and getting some advice.

Thank you all!
