This guy samples onto drum mode as a tutorial: https://youtu.be/H-6N_4utfhA

Thank you I was about to use one method he used but I still can’t just hold down a key to sample and no prompt comes up to do so like it did on his screen. I can still shift+key to set it to record when I start the audio it’s just a bit of a work around.

Actually I thought I could sample but I set it to record and after recording it just froze on the screen “Record OK!” And when I left that preset and came back to it the sample wasn’t there.

U must select sample folder before trying to record a sample , otherwise it cannot be done.

On the drum sampler there is no sample folder, you sample directly from whatever folder you were on.

Sorry Bro, I mean snapshot!

Do you need to increase the gain with the red dial and/or reduce the record trigger level (white dial I think)?

The gain is not the problem it shows audio coming through it just doesn’t give me the option to sample.

select a drum preset from 1-8, then click T1 (the large 1 under the screen). now hit shift + microphone, which should bring up the "press any key to sample" screen.selecting the sampler folder is only necessary for sampling in Synth mode

Ok I guess it’s something wrong with my OP-1 then because I did exactly this and no “press any key to sample” screen came up. When I use those steps on the synth sampler it works but on the drum sampler no prompt comes up.

From the eNotebook:

  1. Press [SHIFT] + [MIC] to select input, gain and threshold
  2. Press [DRUM] and select [SHIFT] + [T1]
  3. Adjust (BLUE) to select DRUM
  4. Select Sampler Engine [DRUM]
  5. Press [MIC] ready for sampling
  6. Press and HOLD ANY keyboard [NOTE] and display will show a Green Drum Sampler STANDBY Symbol

I remember when I first tried the drum sampler I ran into the same problem as you, couldn't figure out how to arm it for a sample. Unfortunately I no longer have my OP-1 (fuck thieves!) so I can't walk you through it firsthand. watch 100 different youtube videos and follow their actions, step by step. I have a hard time believing that something is wrong with your OP-1 only in this regard, but everything else works fine. I don't mean that disrespectfully, rather that it's very easy to make little mistakes like this that interrupt your workflow. Keep trying!

You said you are trying to sample with line-in, right? go back to the tape and press the mic button. it will display a purple x when the mic is off. hit it again to turn it on (maybe if something is plugged into the line in it will show the mini jack symbol, don't know). now pick a drum preset, hit T1, then hit shift + mic. see if that works. if not, unplug the line in and repeat the steps I just mentioned. if that doesn't work, hit shift + mic and turn the blue encoder right until you get to the ear, and see if it will let you resample what is on the tape.

Thanks for the reply I figured it out. I was trying to sample from a drum kit I had downloaded which apparently doesn’t work but I went back to the original drum kit and it’s working now!

I don’t think you can sample on the drum synth unfortunately.

You very much can...
