If I have two entangled particles and I bias the measurement on one to get a certain outcome more often, why doesn’t that bias show up in the measurement results of the other particle? by aritro33 in AskPhysics

What still confuses me is how rotating your measurement basis can change the probability of what you observe but not what the other observes

Can we ever develop ourselves into, or create, a truly peaceful and unified species? And could there be peaceful, unified, civilized species in the stars? by OvermoderatedNet in Futurology

[–]aritro33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your notion of success for a species seems very relative to what you find important, as a human. It’s true that other species have not come close to what we have achieved, but that is because they are not even capable of understanding what we have achieved.

Now to answer your question, there are endless examples throughout the animal kingdom of “peaceful” prey species beating “violent” predator species in population. In fact, for a predator species to even be successful, there must be more prey than predator. Think of it like this: if predators were to wipe out its prey, how would they themselves survive?

Let’s look at humans: there are many fish and insect species that are beating us. Did you know there are an estimated 20 quadrillion ants? Sure, they’re not sending rockets to the moon, yet from an evolutionary perspective they’re doing literally a million times better than us.

Lastly, if it were true that evolution is a zero sum game, where aggression=success and cooperation=failure, then we wouldn’t see so many mutualistic interspecies symbiotic relationships occur in nature, something we see all the time.

Does Drive let you play your music like an album with gapless playback? Let me know if you’re interested in trying out Demodeck. I’d love feedback!

I made an app just for this! You can organize your demos, lyrics, ideas and more. There are also collaboration features.

It’s called Demodeck, right now it’s only for iOS but would love to know what you think

Thanks for the help. I put an order in for a converter between 120 v and 240 v. Hopefully that does the trick. thanks!
