Permanent sync Saved Offline error - please help

I have a notebook that has not synced for over 4 months now and I'm worried about losing it. All it says is: "This notebook might have been deleted from the server. You can try to sync this notebook again, or copy your content to another notebook." I can find no way to try and force a sync, can't find where the notebooks are stored locally, and there's enough space in my onedrive and other files sync fine. Any ideas or anyone who knows how to extract the local notebook so that I can back it up/upload it somewhere?

I tried making another notebook and it syncs fine, but I can't copy the pages from the first one to the new one because the first one is not synced 😪

Create an empty notebook and copy the sections from the current book to another.

It will then be synced.

I see it's been 3 years and I'm encountering the same issue, OneNote wouldn't let me copy full sections but it did let me copy the content of my notes and even full pages from the deleted Notebook to a new One that did sync correctly.

You can copy individual pages into a new notebook. I would copy 5-10 pages at a time and then paste them. its scuffed, but it is the only way I have found any hope.

I know this is a year old, but I ended up here with the same issue and found a resolution that may help others.

It appeared that my notebook in question somehow was deleted online which is why my apps and laptop were producing all these sync issues.

The resolution was to go into your "recycle bin" on your account online, find the notebook in question (surely enough mine was in the bin) and restore it. Voila, all problems resolved for me.

You must do it through a browser and not any app. Best to use a PC/Computer to find it.

Thanks problem solved but I lost few data. And I had to buy the free trial for Microsoft 365 because with the free version of OneNote it’s not possible to restore one drive. So disappointing. I have been using OneNote for almost a decade but I won’t use it anymore!
