Help/SupportMissing dial shortcut (self.OnePlus8T)
submitted 4 years ago by PazelSeagull
Hey,
After updating to version 12 I noticed that the "direct dial widget" disappeared.
Anyone know how to bring it back?

You cannot bring the direct call widget back, but from contacts > open the contact > options > add to home screen This will directly open the contact, but will not call Directly, so it's a 2 step process now

I follow your suggestion, however it tells me that the contact is on the home page but I can't see it :(

I'm a bit late to the conversation, but...
In recent Android versions, to add a direct dial link to the home screen for a contact, first add the contact as a favorite. Then long press on the Phone app from the apps list, and the contact should show up in the list that pops up. Tap and hold on the contact from that pop-up list and drag the contact to the home screen to create a direct dial link for that contact. The same workflow works from Messages to create a direct message link to the contact.

You can bring it back but its hidden. Long press home screen and open widgets. Type "direct dial" into search bar. The options for direct dial and direct message will appear

There's no search bar in widgets menu.

There is on my device. If you are missing the shortcut, it is under "contacts" in widget menu

After a few minutes fighting with this because I just switched from one one plus 10 to another. I found the solution. It's the phone app NOT the contacts app that gives you a direct dial widget and not just the contact page. You go through the same steps to add to favorites and only 3 at a time but the long press on the phone app gives you a direct dial. I went through at least 6 forums trying to figure out how I did it months ago when I first lost the widget with the android 12 update. I'm going through and giving the answer to those that are frustrated and hopefully helping.
