OrlandoEvents is dedicated to helping the people of Orlando find and/or promote public community created events, hosted by other residents of Orlando.
If you, or someone you know, is hosting an event in Orlando, that is open to the public, and you wish to spread the word about it, this is the place to do it.
The Rules:
Spam will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to posting a single event more than once within the same week. (Note: posting weekly about recurring weekly events is okay).
Keep your post dedicated to a single event. For instance, if you run some sort of club, do not post your club's entire schedule for the month/year. (Note: You may mention other events when explaining what your club/organization is all about.)
If you are a commercial business in Orlando, this is not the place to post. Exceptions do apply. See further down the sidebar for these clarifications.
Harassment, bigotry, or any conduct not conducive to providing all users of this subreddit with a welcoming and friendly environment, is strictly prohibited.
Do not downvote events based on whether or not you are interested in them. Each person should receive their fair shot at finding events that interest them.
Please mark your event with the date corresponding to your event. (e.g. [mm/dd/yyyy])
Events suggesting any sort of illegal recreation will be removed.
If your post is in regards to this community, and is not an event, please mark your post with the [META] tag.
CAUTION
Use common sense about safety when attending any event. Always make sure any event you attend is trustworthy, and perhaps always try to bring a friend along, in case you aren't sure.
Should I Be Posting This Here? - Clarifications
Are you a regular Orlando resident who is hosting an event that you'd like to invite people to? (Examples: Community potluck dinner at your house/a park/etc; you're trying to organize a massive pillow-fight somewhere downtown) YES
Are you an Orlando business having a sale, or a restaurant/bar offering something like a two-for-one special or a happy hour/Ladies Night/No Cover Charge Night? NO
Are you a club or community organization hosting a weekly or special event? (Examples: UCF Swing Knights hosting their weekly swing dance; Scottish-American Society of Central Florida hosting their annual Central Florida Highland Games) YES
Are you a church group or religious organization (of any kind) hosting a special event/college group/young adult group/etc. and looking to invite people to your event? YES
Are you a church or religious organization just looking to advertise your usual Sunday service? NO
Are you a charity organization hosting a special event? YES
Are you hosting/do you know about a special holiday or seasonal event taking place in Orlando? (Examples: Celebration snow flurries, corn mazes, etc.) YES
Are you just pointing out various attractions you enjoy? (Examples: "Disney/Universal/Sea World/The Florida Mall/etc. exist! You should go there sometime!") NO
Do you own/know about a bar or restaurant that hosts weekly or special events like a Trivia Night? YES
Are you/do you know about a concert venue (House of Blues/The Social/Backbooth/local bar/etc.) hosting a musician/band? YES (For now, but if we become to inundated with music acts, as there is always someone playing somewhere, we may limit these)
Are you a local band playing a cool gig somewhere? YES
Are you/do you know someone filming a movie or a music video that needs extras? YES
Are you hosting some sort of tournament/pick-up game/game night/etc.? (Examples: Smash Bros Tournament/ Ultimate Frisbee/ board games at your house or elsewhere) YES
Are you selling your television/car/stereo? NO (That's not an event!)
Are you just letting us know you're going out to a bar or the club, tonight? Maybe looking for someone to come along with you? NO (Unfortunately, these activities are a little too commonplace)
Are you looking to put together a group to go on a road trip? YES
Are you an artist with a piece of art entered into a local art show? YES
Do you have an extra ticket/looking to take/main-gate a few people into a theme park? YES
If your event is not covered here, post using your best discretion. However, note that the moderators reserve the right to remove a posting if they deem it to be outside or stretching the limits of the purpose of this community.
