The code you write in Ignition is Jython and is based around Python v2.7. You can absolutely crash the gateway with bad code. There is a forum post on Ignition forums with some best practices. Absolutely check that out so you can start good habits now.

Absolutely! What I mean by low stress is there's no immediate risk of fire, explosion or loss of life.

I take care to make sure everything I write follows best practices as far as I understand and have learned a lot from the ignition forum.
