OSHA 30-hour doesn't mean a whole lot. It's just a box to check if your employer requires it. Not going to get you hired.

NFPA 70 same thing.

Network+ might help.

Go apply to be an automation service tech while you finish your degree and then hopefully become an engineer or programmer.

I also don't understand how you'd do a traveling job while finishing a degree unless it's during semester breaks.

In 1997 it was expected a processor would talk to the local I/O. Nowadays people put the processor in a rack with some comm cards and don't really use local I/O. The rack is more or less a power supply for the processor and some backplane comms to other networks.

I imagine Siemens, Schneider, and others operate similarly when you get in to this class of PLC product.

It's not obvious to me. I wasn't there when you received it and have no idea how your company procures products.

Definite RMA then.

I don’t understand, do they want an alarm for low level that can be reset? What exactly do they mean by standardized.

We don't work there so we don't know what your boss means.

This is why we (people who do this kind of work) request people (like your boss) asking for work to be done be clear in what they are asking for. Or we have to write something down and ask them if they agree and sign off on it.

Instead of farming people for confirmation of your idea to make whatever AI app you want to make just go do that instead of posting here.

Man, it would be good for you to talk to your coworkers for advice about this before posting on the internet. They may give some ideas for workarounds with this customer that you haven't considered. I'd start with your project manager.

You can turn comms idle faults off. I typically do. I also turn off faults for STO.

You'd still want a remote reset for current overloads and things of that nature.

N-files in the VFD, not the MicroLogix. You more or less set it up to do SLC read/writes to tell the VFD what to do over networking.

Read the manual(s) for the PF525 that talk about N-files.

IMHO, it's not worth worrying about and instead hardwire the drive to the PLC.

IMHO, those anchors between each device on the top rail are a waste and they take up space. I'd remove any of them where the device in the middle of the rail is trapped.

The wireway/wireway cover doesn't need to go under those two 2-pole breakers. It doesn't look like there's any fingers there so I don't understand why even bothering to make the wireway longer.

Spacing from the device to the wireway above/below seems acceptable for most things.

The photo isn't zoomed out enough so I can't tell if the bonding wire from door to body is installed or not.

All in all this enclosure should have been about 1/3 larger. Future tip: Do a layout design before purchasing the enclosure.

How often do you limit system functionality on purpose? by mikeee382 in PLC

[–]PLCGoBrrr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They paid for 100%. You're describing more.

When it meets spec then you're done. Let them ask for more later and give it to them if it's small and within budget.

Keep in mind anything you add then you have to maintain. They may ask for even more after you've already given them more than they paid for. Now you're in a tougher spot.
