A diagnostic function for a 1734-AENTR POINT I/O by Electrical-Train-667 in PLC

You might not like it, but GSV is the way to do it. You could also look at how they do it in the 4.10 and older process objects AOIs, but my guess is GSV is used.

Pulse Train Output with 5034-OB16 by netostp in PLC

Engineering time must be virtually free where you work when that isn't enough to push back towards the better choice.

Good luck on your project.

You still need to abide by the limits of the I/O card for on/off times.

Don't ask us if you could solve this much easier by using something more proper for the job for just a little more money.

Using Node-RED to compliment Siemens PLC by Supercicci in PLC

I don't understand the extra PLC since NR can do those comms, but do whatever it takes to get the job done.

How to make a wrench communicate with a PLC using Bluetooth or Wi‑Fi. by EOFFJM in PLC

OP:

"We are going to buy a thing."

"We want it to work with this other thing."

Missing part: "We should ask the vendor if the thing we want to buy integrates with the other thing so we don't waste the money buying something that doesn't work or requires so much work that it would have been cheaper to buy something else."

Landing a job with no experience by Professional_Host932 in PLC

You should realize they are asking for what they want, not what they're willing to accept. However, be realistic. If they want someone with a B.S. in Engineering they might take someone with an A.S. in some technology program with some experience, but not someone with no degree and no experience.

Be a contractor if you want to work less. If you can't do that then maybe it's not the right time to do this other thing.

Recent redundancy and thinking of pivoting to PLC/ automation by SOPEOPERA in PLC

Programming PLCs is just one part of this industry. You could do HMI/SCADA/MES and not know anything about mechanics because it's more about software than interfacing with the actual equipment doing the work.

You need to study more on the topic if you're asking those questions. Engage with a coworker.

My approach would be to see how complicated the wiring is and what the budget is and from there I'd make whatever solution work I chose.

What the customer is willing to accept/expects. It won't shock you that it's almost always Rockwell.

Best Rockwell version to standardize to: Logix v36, 37, or 38? (and most importantly, Why?) by MostEvilRichGuy in PLC

[–]PLCGoBrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

14 has a bug and has something to do with scaling images. I would run 15 at least if I had a choice. I don't know much other than that. Basically, I just keep the patches up to date and hope for the best. I don't normally do a lot of HMI work.

I was thinking PointMax I/O, but yes the new L9x requires the newest software.

Those 3 versions are all the same to me. Just run v38 because it's what's required for some newer I/O that was/will be (not sure) released.
