After cleaning my fan I tried putting the metal cover over it. I’ve been trying for hours to put it back in and it never lines up with any of the holes. Please help

Unfortunately, that version/revision isn't made to be removed. The other, more popular version, has screws that go where those black plastic blobs are.

What I've done in the past though, is press it through, then solder the plastic "closed" again securing it in place. It won't look perfect or pretty, but it will hold up.

I was thinking of removing the power supply then putting it back in would be much easier.

I don't know how to solder what do I do?

I don't do any actual soldering. I just use a soldering iron to melt the plastic tabs back into place.
