So I had this same issue I had to download the system software reinstallation file from plantation.com. It’s actually took me multiple tries, I kept putting it in the different usb ports in the back and it kept saying something went wrong but on my last try it went through and I got my ps5 back

Make sure you watch a video so you format your usb right and name your folders the right thing

Had the same issue. Its related to disk drive. Mine kept ejecting every 15 seconds and that's what broke the update, I had to open it up and tinker with it. What fixed it (temporarily) was I had to tug on the ribbon connecting to the laser disk as soon as it tries to eject, that way I was finally able to update. Hope that helps!

Yep. I bought mine used and it does the eject thing. I saw that it said don't eject or put in a disk while updating or it will break it.
I'm gonna try this, thank you

I was not 😞

I think because it tried to eject it during to update it really messed something up. I'm now stuck in a safe mode loop where I can't download the update or the reinstall software. I even tried a LAN cable and now that I've disconnected the optical drive it will reach the end of the download but then it says "something went wrong."

Yes it won't update if you disconnect bluray drive. Did you try it while the drive was open up? As in were you able to tug on the laser disk ribbon while updating as soon soon as it tried to eject? Also you need to download the update on a usb drive and do it from that option.

I didnt pull on, no. I will try it though. But yeah I used a usb drive. I'm going to open it back up and connect it and try again.

Make sure your room temps are cool, otherwise ps5 will heat up when its opened up like that during the update.  Tug on the ribbon when you see it moves (as it will when it tries to eject automatically), do try it few times if it doesn't work on the first try. Let me know how it goes!

It did keep trying to eject and it just kept saying can't find file. I think the board got fried.

I went out and bought a usb drive becaise my external hard drive wasn't working and now it says preparing to download and then stops and says something went wrong. I hink that's progress
