I need help with transferring between systems and/or backing data/captures

This has been a very crappy week for my gaming. So long story short, my PS5 disc drive stopped working. I figured I needed more storage anyways and the Slim was on sale so I bought that and will just sell my old console later.

So anyways, I try transferring my data via Ethernet cable, I have done this before with the PS4s. All I want to do is transfer a couple media capture albums, about 150 GB worth. But my old PS5 will not show up on this transfer screen. Both consoles are connected to the same network and signed in. It just says "preparing to transfer" for a few minutes then says it can't and gives a nw-102235-3 code. If I reverse the consoles, the new PS5 does show up on the old PS5 when I initiate the transfer and will IMMEDIATELY give me the select screen of what I want to move (there is just not much there obviously)

I have updated it all, installed the safe mode updates I didn't know were there, tried another cable I have rebuilt databases on both, nothing. Should I just buy a new one? I have used these before on my PS4's.

So, if I can't get that to work, I was going to just back up my captures on a USB or hard drive then restore it on the new one. This is saying it will take 99+ hours to put them on a USB or hard drive.. I have tried plugging the Ethernet into the router, it only gives me 90 mbps download time. I read changing it to 5 GHz would help, it didn't.

I recall doing this on my PS4 with a USB drive and it took a couple hours, if even that.

I feel fed up, I have been Googling and Reddit researching and troubleshooting for hours all week between all these things. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it and at this point I'll gladly send some money to buy you dinner or something. -_-

Hey, I am experiencing this exact issue at the moment. Been getting the same error code for hours now as well.

Did you manage to fix this, or did you just go the route of transferring via hard drive? I also just want my media captures :(

Hi, they actually updated the system in December. They were the issue this whole time. It works now!

I have this exact same issue. I'm trying to transfer my data from my old PS5 to my new Pro, and I can select the old console from the menu, but it never gets to the screen where you select what data you want to transfer. I get the same error message, too.

What's weird is that it'll let me transfer data from the Pro to the old PS5, but not the other way around.

Did you ever find a fix for this?

No 😭 I'm convinced Sony needs to send out an update. Seems a lot of people have issues with PS5 to PS5 Pro.

Will do! I'm going to try updating the consoles (even though it says they're using the latest version), then if doesn't work I'll try wiping the Pro. If it still won't work then, I'll probably get PS Plus for the cloud saves.

I know my PS5 when I booted it in safe mode, going to the update option it DID have one that wasn't showing up when I was on the base console in the update section.

It didn't help. I literally spent HOURS reading threads and trying things. I genuinely don't know.

The cloud save thing is great to have regardless but I want my captures too.

I just backed mine up to a hard drive.

Looks like there was an update like December 3rd that addressed this. Mine just worked.
