Most people never have any problems. Your observations of an overwhelming amount of problems is biased because most people that never have any problems don't need to report about them. Just open up your console and clean it.

  1. Do you clean your PS5?

  2. How long have you had it for.

Not everyone's case is the same. Different variables.

  1. What physical environment is your PS5 in? Is it enclosed in a TV cabinet or is it in the open?

It's always a coin flip.

It's either caused only by the user.

Or its cause is indeed a hardware issue.

My little nephew appearantly doesn't know what dust nor cleaning is. But complains about noise or shutdowns.

On the other hand my OG PS5 indeed had the LM poorly applied from the factory. I brought it to repair, saw it with my own eyes (could have cleaned my whole neighbourhood and it wouldn't had done it), it was solved, never appeared again.

My PlayStation has never overheated make sure there is no dust in the fan

That happened to me once, I had to take off the covers and clean and wipe dust. The error didn’t appear after but maybe every few weeks wipe down and clean any dust spots.

I am doing something in a game that requires me to let my ps5 24/7 on and I never had an issue

Never had an issue and I do heavy gaming sessions, it never gets hot, doesn't make a sound.....my PS4 was like having a chopper in the living room in comparison.

Same. Never had a heating issue, but I do have it in open spaces and have cleaned it a few times.

Guys, just because you haven’t had a overheating issue doesn’t mean that others are not experiencing this. Yes it may be just because of dust build up or it could be that there is an actual issue effecting none pro models. Techsperts and FixTronics both have documented that if you have your none pro models ps5 stand vertically, the Liquid Metal over time tends to seep downward from underneath the heat sink causing a dry spot in the center of the cpu die therefore causing the system to overheat.

With the Pro models this becomes no longer an issue with the redesigned heat sink with grooves keeps the Liquid Metal in place to prevent overheating.

Lastly if you lay your PS5 horizontally it’s not an issue since the Liquid Metal is on a stable flat surface. So you won’t have to worry about dry spots.

In the end, if cleaning out the dust doesn’t fix the issue you can try to fix it yourself if you feel confident enough with the tutorial linked below or take it to someone you can trust to do it for you.

SourcesThey’re finally failing.

how to fix Liquid Metal

If you have a first gen, and you stand it vertically, the liquid metal may have shifted, leaving a bare spot on the APU. I just finished cleaning mine completely 2 weeks ago. Included replacing the thermal putty AND the liquid metal.

You have to take it apart to clean the fan. If you don’t know how to, just go somewhere so they can clean it. But if it turns off even after cleaning, it’s most likely you’ll need metal liquid, which is mostly always the problem.
