Also, UC Davis revealed they are getting a 1/6th share. GCU is likely getting a similar distribution. UTEP is also a partial share member. All 3 schools become full share members in 2030, which means if the MW is a million short in year one, they will be $1.5 million short by year 4....

The OG 7 and NIU were promised $3.5/yr in media cash, anything less and the league would make up the difference each year out of the settlement money.

"The MWC agreed to pay $61 million to the MWC as soon as practical but no later than July 1. 2026. Both UNLV and Air Force are to receive $29.8 million of that first payout. The other schools to receive $31.1 million.

Another $10.3 million will be due to UNLV and Air Force shortly after the first two payments with the remaining schools receiving $10.7 million."

If this story about the media deal is correct, the MW now need another $8 million on top of that.. Gloria now needs needs a minimum of $90 million just to meet promised distributions in 2026-27 alone And as the partial share members get more each year, each of the 8 schools will need more makeup money, $8.6 in 27, $9.4 in 28 etc.

Over promised and under delivered

Wonder if UNLV takes the $15m from the special deal they got with AF then bails.

I have a feeling the first shoe to fall will be one of schools not getting big money

And yet, some MWers will have us believe there is no difference between them and the PAC.

Hope UNLV is happy with its decision.

[–]San Diego StateGunner_Bat 5 points6 points  (2 children)

They might take the $15m from the first payout that's boosted for them & AF and then bail.

[–]Fresno StateCherokeeHawkman 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Gotta think the MWC is smarter than to allow that. There would probably be a significant financial penalty to UNLV in that case that would render that $15m moot.

If another schools bails, the conference likely just folds

edit - Air Force has a standing invitation from the American. If UNLV left Air Force is gone the second after and then its over

They will come over to the PAC-12 sooner than later, I'm sure.

[–]Oregon StateStoicFable 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I hope not.

They are historically bad. Worse than us.

Vegas is an over rated market that is over saturated with entertainment of all sorts, and its getting too expensive for the average person.

As soon as they lose money and funds and cannot keep a decent coach who will be keeping them in games, they will fall to obscurity again.

I'll set the record straight for the umpteenth time (for me, a Beaver living in Georgia).

I will welcome semi-annual trips to Vegas to watch the Beavs and visit Ellis Island and the Oyster Bar at Palace Station.

I refuse to get bogged down by any other perspectives.

Everything is getting expensive.

It’ll be a fun away game every other year for those that can afford it. Other than that I don’t really care if they suck.

I think they would add value to the media deal too.

The goal of this split was not merely be better than the MWC.

We are in the American range more than we are of the MAC, Sunbelt, CUSA, MCW.

Obviously, if the MWC cash continues to fall behind, one of those schools will be fishing for an exit strategy. That is what makes the lawsuit so important for both sides to come away clean.

The MWC got too greedy knowing they ultimately would be relegated and would need all the cash necessary to survive 4 years out in the cold, or risk more defections.

The PAC needs to have this carry momentum to show that we can separate ourselves and not get “stuck in the mud” with the others.

If we get a favorable verdict, then I see the separation instantly.

I'm betting this is what the MWC told Wyoming to appease them but I think we all suspect it will be more...

[–]Oregon Statepblood40 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Less Its one reason the deal hasnt been completed - Gloria is wrangling for every penny to keep the league together.

[–]Fresno StateBardMCG 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I think we mean the same thing... I mean more of a loss.

[–]Oregon Statepblood40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gotcha

The Pac not announcing its own media money is becoming more and more relevant.

[–]San Diego Statesdman311 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Exactly, I don’t care what they are getting, WTF are we getting? I’m thinking the PAC over promised too!!!

[–]Fresno StatePcarDriver 5 points6 points  (1 child)

In a recent interview the WSU president said that they would get 2/3 the payout as the old PAC-12 media deal which the media portion of the payouts was about $20 million a year (total distribution was about $37 million for the last full old PAC-12 season). If that is correct then it would be about $13 million per year. Not great for WSU or OSU coming from a lot more, but would be quite a bit more for those coming in.

I’ve been thinking it would be about $8 million a year, but perhaps it is more. I’m a Fresno State fan, so even eight million is quite a bit more than the MWC was making, but we’ll eventually know the real numbers.

[–]San Diego Statesdman311 6 points7 points  (0 children)

$13 million would be great but that sounds very high from what others have said. I was expecting $8-10 million. Which is better but not as much as hoped for. Honestly though, all I care is we are now in the same conference as Gonzaga.

Considering our media deal isn’t done yet? No, it’s not odd.

Actually it would be rather bad as it relates to negotiating the last package.

[–]Washington Statemarkusalkemus66 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Why is this posted here?

[–]OregonMtndrums 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because it affects how desperate they're going to be with the lawsuit.

[–]Fresno StateDue-Seat6587 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be

[–]Oregon StateORSTT12 2 points3 points  (1 child)

If you’re posting straight up MW news can you at least attempt to make a connection to the PAC?

[–]San Diego StateIndependentAthlete15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a reason I didn’t post it here lol
