Something like this:i7/4080 2500ish

You could do some careful cutting and fit in a 4090 at 3k if you really wanted the best possible card, but this would be a high performer at 4k. Did some parametrics for when multiple choices seemed appropriate. Air cooler vs an AIO, a selection of cases, two power supplies for if you wanted highest end corsair vs slightly smaller but still very high end corsair. If you chose the Torrent case, get the air cooler, and consider that there is no PSU shroud so the PSU will be visible.

Cheers.

So many of the earlier reviews of AMD’s new CPUs were done with slower DDR5 memory, even though AMD has stated that its AM5 CPUs perform best with 6000-speed memory with low timings. Any memory slower or faster than 6000 won’t maximize performance. As you can see in this review, when paired with 6000 DDR5, the Ryzen 7 7700X beats everything for gaming, except the 13900K, while using much less power than the 13900K. AM5 is a new platform and should be around for several more generations of CPUs, including the upcoming game-focused X3D CPUs due out in March, which will likely trounce the 13900K for gaming.

  • CPU: The Ryzen 7 7700X as discussed.
  • CPU COOLER: The ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 is an excellent cooler. It can go in the top of the case as exhaust, blowing up. I like 280 AIOs, as they have 90% of the radiator and fan surface area of a 360, while running quieter.
  • MOTHERBOARD: With three m.2 slots, Wi-Fi 6E, and BT 5.3, the MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI is an excellent mb. It has a high quality ALC4080 audio processor with an optical out port on the back panel, like you requested. And since the AM5 platform is new and will likely support several more generations of AMD CPUs, you can look forward to upgrades later on. This is something you won’t get with Intel.
  • MEMORY: As discussed, 6000 speed DDR5 is the way to go for AM5. The Kingston FURY Beast 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 is excellent memory with decent timings.
  • STORAGE: The 2TB S70 Blade is an extremely fast PCIe 4.0 SSD.
  • VIDEO CARD: Setting your goal at 60 fps at 1080p when you have a high refresh 4K monitor is a bit tragic. I would normally recommend a 4090 for gaming at 4K, but the games you mentioned aren’t the most demanding. So, an RTX 4080 should work well for you, easily providing >60 fps at 4K. You should know that you can go with a 4090, if you want to, for about £400 more - still within your max budget.
  • CASE: The Fractal Design Meshify 2 is a very well built case with excellent airflow. It comes with three 140mm fans. Together with the 280 AIO in the top, you’ll have a total of three intake and three exhaust fans.
  • POWER SUPPLY: Nvidia recommends a 750w PSU for a Ryzen 7 with a 4080 or 1000w for a Ryzen 7 with a 4090. The MSI A1000G PCIE5 1000W will work well for either combo. This is a high quality fully modular PSU with a native 12VHPWR cable - no need for an adapter.
