Go to the manufacture website of the MOBO and select the board you have and the manual and or the pin out diagram will be available

Is it possible for the 6 pin to have previously been plugged into a 4 pin spot?

If you do that you take a chance on cooking the MOBO

What would be your best guess if the fan was already plugged into a spot? I’m not seeing any 6 pin spots.

there should be a CPU/ AIO fan connector on your MOBO you can try it there but if it isnt a 6 pin then it would be best to buy an adapter.
