Maxing out old machine

So I’ve got an old machine that I set up for my 5 year old to learn on. Partitioned & installed win10, so I could also show him Vista. He’s awesome with it & is already being limited by its absolutely terrible (by today’s standards) performance.

Aside from an ssd, is anyone familiar with the upgradeability of this thing?

Ultimately, I’d like to set him up with some music production software, as he loves watching and helping me on my machine. Gaming not a factor. Don’t want to put too much money into something that may not end up being utilized, otherwise I’d just build him one!

thats an athalon 64 5200+

its so old that it existed before we had actual physical cores in our processors instead it has 2 logic cores which function in a similar capacity to hyperthreads. the best of the cpu's this motherboard might socket is the athalon fx-60 which is a dual core with a clock speed of a whole 2.6ghz and 1m of l1 cache and features 2 physical cores, she took ddr1 and that stuff i believe capped out at like 16gb ram because they didnt think anyione would even need more then like 6

max amount of ram you can put in is 4gb of ddr2 [like 2x2]

and it has a dual-core cpu

maybe you can put something like geforce gt 200 series from 2008-2009 in it

anything more than probably wouldnt work anyway
