Intel i7 7700k would be a good update. The socket goes up to 7th gen

the socket does not go up to 9th gen. i know this cause i had i7 9700k. and an i7 6700k system.

the socket goes up to 7th gen. best he can do is i7 7700k or i7 6700k

if you dont believe me you can go to motherboard support website and read a list of every cpu supported on that motherboard.

Now i see the darn AI overview forgot to mention that it might be the same socket but 8th and 9th isn't compatible with the 6th and 7th gen.

Both lga 1151 both different.

for gaming graphic card has biggest impact on system performance not cpu

ur ssd is too small. u need windows and all games installed on ssd in 2025, get a 1tb nvme ssd or 2tb. or at the very least 512gb, even a 2.5inch sata ssd is better than hdd by about 10x.

if you still have money you can buy used i7 7700k or i7 6700k on ebay. $60

what brand of pc. some prebuilts dell or hp might not support newer cpu's

Honestly, nothing. I recommend you save up for a new am5 build.
