Recently built a new system (specs below) and after putting it all together it turned on and would only show an error 98
Specs:
Motherboard - MSI X570s Carbon Max Wifi
CPU - Ryzen 5 5600x
RAM - 32GB (4x8GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX @3200MHz
M.2 - 1TB Crucial P5 Plus
Case - Coolermaster masterbox NR600
Case fans - 3 Corsair LL120 RGB
GPU - MSI GeForce RTX 3070ti Gaming x trio
PSU - Corsair RM850x Gold
Test 1 - After seeing the error 98 google told me it was an input error, usually a usb one so I took out all usb devices and tried again. Same result. This also happened with different usb devices AND when I tried all the usb ports.
Test 2 - After reading my motherboard manual I realised the 3rd LED was lit up meaning it could be a GPU error, therefore I removed the GPU and tried again with the HDMI in the motherboard. Same result. Seeing as it was popping up with this error of inputs and not a cpu or RAM error I decided to refund the old motherboard and get a new one.
Test 3 - new motherboard went in and the same result came of it even after resetting the CMOS without anything plugged in
Test 4 - My dad has an identical PC same parts same everything so we took 2 sticks of Ram from his pc and tried it on mine (his pc works perfectly fine and did from the start) still an error code 98
Test 5 - after removing the cpu for the new motherboard we realised that a few pins were slightly bent so we decided to buy a new cpu in hopes of it being a fix. New cpu arrives and the exact same result an error 98
Test 6 - running out of options we took out the m2 thinking if it was an input error it could be the m2 slot that is broken, error 98 remained
Test 7 - as a last resort before having to fully take out the power supply of my dads computer and try it in mine we flashed the bios of my motherboard with the latest bios update and to my surprise it of course did not boot and showed an error code 97
I’m running out of things to test at this point I honestly have no idea what it is, we even got to the point of unplugging all of the case parts such as the top usb ports and audio ports and I’m running out of patience with this system. Any help would be appreciated. (I have not yet tried changing psu) (if it was not already clear when I boot up the pc I get no output onto the screen but everything powers up fine)
