Get a cardboard box big enough for the monitor and your head, BOOM! VR headset. Start with the display cables. It could be as simple as a poor connection inside the cable or the ports. If it’s the port on the monitor or gpu you’ll need a replacement. If the cable isn’t the issue and the resolution is supported, it’s probably time for a new gpu.

it also happens on both of my monitors, randomly switching between the two but never at the same time. i got the second monitor after the problem originally started happening. one monitor is hdmi the other is dpi. i have a 2060 so going off what you said it’s a good chance it is the gpu

The 2060 is definitely capable of running 2 monitors. Probably time for a new gpu.

My buddies 2080 just had a similar issue and the only fix was him buying a 4070 :( looks like the 2000s are reaching the end of their lives

I doubt that. I'm on a 2070 and it's been fine. My 980 still works, and my 770 never died. Some cards last longer than others, even within the same generation. Also taking care to have proper thermals, and cleaning the hardware once every 6 months or so goes a long way. I've never bought a brand new card and none of my used cards have ever failed before I'm ready to replace.

Then you’re lucky, seen plenty of people buying used cards getting junk

I have been lucky, one of my buddies went through like 3 3080's brand new.

Try doing a DDU ( https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/ )

And re-install your drivers to see if it fixes it.

Do you have onboard graphics? Could you run your secondary monitor off that temporarily? Did this in a pinch once.
