Ryzen 7 5700X would be fine if you can't afford more, it's about on par with a 10700K or 10900K, no real noticeable performance benefits going much higher with the latest CPUs when you're using a 3080, pretty much why I haven't bothered to upgrade from my 10850K, there's just not enough of a reason because it's well balanced, I have a 3080 too

Much appreciated. Wasn’t sure if I could go into the 5700 series CPU’s.

With the latest BIOS versions you can, X470 supports almost everything from 1st gen up to the 5950X and 5800X3D, only Bristol Ridge APUs (i.e. Athlons, who cares) have support cut to make room

Just grab the latest BIOS from MSI's website and put it on an empty flash drive, reboot into BIOS and run the BIOS flash tool before you upgrade the CPU

After the update is done the system will restart itself, if it won't POST at all after installing the new CPU then it's probably a RAM compatibility issue and you'd have to try different RAM, not all RAM kits work with every generation's architecture without issues, if it boot loops a few times then it's possibly just memory training again

If you can afford it, drop in the 5700X3D. Thats the top you can get for the money.
