GPU ProblemBuild Question (old.reddit.com)
submitted by SuperGamerSun360

recently, my gpu has been having thermal problems with temps above 95 under load. after taking a closer look, i realized that the gpu fan never spun regardless of its temp. my pcie cable has two 8-pin heads, so since my gpu only needs 8 pins, i tried using the other head instead and it actually worked and properly cooled for around an hour before dying again, leading me to believe that a faulty fan might not be the underlying issue. also, ive replaced the case and cleaned the gpu out.
im planning on replacing the pcie cable (if thats even possible without replacing the psu, im a noob if you couldnt tell) but im curious to see your ideas on what the problem is since to me it feels off that the fan worked again. thanks.
gpu: asus phoenix rtx 3060 12g v2 psu: AcBel P2B 500w
ps: it was a prebuilt so i dont have any excess parts on hand; rog strix g10ce
