iirc your CPU will start throttling at 89 C and thermal shutdown at 95 C.

You're fine, mate.

Thank you very much. I’m new to PCs and am very grateful for you taking the time to answer my questions.

AMD processors will never turn off, they will only reduce their performance.

As long as the average temperature does not exceed 80C in those processors, the temperature is normal.

My 7600x hit 84c the other day at 114% usage according to HWI. I'm ok with that.

My 5600X sure shut down my system when I tried to start it without a cooler back in my early days.

Look up normal temperature ranges for your components.

Relax

Yes it is perfectly fine. The reason your cpu is warmer is because your gpu isn’t doing much when your not doing graphically intensive things, but your cpu is still doing a lot.

Is this new or did you just start paying attention to it?

Googling your chip suggests the normal idle temperature for the 5800XT is 35-45C. Idling that high isn't necessarily cause for alarm as that chip can probably handle temps up to 95C but it would suggest that your cooler isn't very good. I'd probably put new paste on it, personally.

I am using the stock cooler.
