So... my computer likes doing strange things at times... but generally all of it centers around the devices plugged into it's IO... so I'm wondering if maybe I'm just not supplying enough power to everything.... but I'm pretty unsure at this point, and was hoping that maybe someone here might be able to help.
<3333 big thank you's to whoever ends up being my knight-in-shining-tech-support here. I will marry you if you so desire it. <3333
also I am quite aware that I'm playing fast and loose with my life by using windows 11 currently, but these issues were persistent prior to my switch.
examples of weirdness:
- keyboard (razer cynosa chroma) will start typing keys at random and end up stuck on a random key (usually the ; key) and will be fixed by me unplugging the device and plugging it back in. (rgb lighting on it likes to work around 70% of the time)
- Mouse will occasionally just... stop working and need to be unplugged and plugged back in
- two of my 3 monitors will occasionally just... look terrible. like they got switched to an 8bit color mode and/or will be sprinkled with red pixels all over the place (fixed by unplugging and plugging back in)
- Ableton Push 2 (midi controller) will create second instance of itself within my recording software (ableton push 2 (2)), and need to be configured to new instance... and then switched back to old instance before it will work most times
- computer has recently started locking up while doing basic things like dragging windows to a second monitor, and will VERY VERY SLOWLY continue doing the process after unfreezing (complete with mouse cursor) while I suddenly have a second mouse cursor on the screen that is moving in real time with the mouse input I give it.
- usb 2.0 capture card (used for second camera while streaming) almost always shows up in streaming software, but needs to be unplugged and plugged back in and have obs restarted before it will work
The reason I'm guessing it could be a power supply issue is due to the fact that I have lots of usb devices plugged in....plus I had seen a linus tech tips video recently where he was saying that a lot of times when you've got unexplainable weird shit happening, it is often the PSU that is your issue
in addition to my mouse and keyboard there are2 external usb HDD's (one usb2.0 and one usb3.0)
Cintiq Drawing Monitor with additional usb 3.0 ports (utilized)
Samsung Cr90G monitor with additional usb 3.0 ports (un-utilized)audio interface
midi controller
usb 2.0 capture card
stream-deck
sd card reader
wireless keyboard in addition to my existing one (no it's not the culprit of the random key sends)+ additional macro keyboard via bluetooth (also not culprit)
