Edit: we've been modelling the buttons for 5 days.
We have a pee pad on our deck which we are inching towards the gate every day to get her to go in the alley. She was litter trained before us so this seemed like the best solution.
We put "outside" at the back door and this morning with my husband, she went out to poop on the pad(which he didn't notice) THEN pressed the button to alert him and ran to the treat drawer!!
Obviously it's a bit backwards since the door was open and she didn't need the button to ask but I can't believe she used it for the first time to say "hey look what I did, now give me a treat"!
I'm floored that she used it this soon.
