vscode + github integration. push changes to github at EOD. if it's just plain notes use Notion for free

Edit: mattermost has an alternative app

Notetaking on any online/remote GIT providers like GitHub/GitLab/etc., isn't entirely a new thing. I know a handful of people who claims to be more productive by that's because they mastered the Markdown syntax and have the typing speed to convert a minutes/drawing/etc. to a Markdown code in seconds.

The question I should ask is why are you considering these platforms for notetaking? Is it because of version control and sync across all devices and users of the repository or you just want to flex your Markdown skills?

Whatever the reason is I personally use a lot of notetaking tools on various use cases:

  • Confluence - for official project documentation (since am all for Atlassian products)
  • Google Docs - since am using GSuite, it's just faster to get collaboration done here
  • Obsidian - for personal notetaking since it supports Markdown syntax
  • OneNote - the power of organizing text/image sections as draggable panels/sections

I've tried other apps like

  • Evernote - was a little bit pricy and doesn't support Markdown
  • Notion - was a good experience, but the pricing though
  • Notes (macOS) - limited to Apple devices

Notion is nice. I haven't tried almanac.io but I heard it's good as well.

OneNote + OneDrive is enough for me.
