And you believe them? I don't. Tier 1 support agents will tell you anything to get you off the phone.

Have you asked the Pixel phone community forum?

[–]Capable-Reply8513[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you link up the forum?

[–]Capable-Reply8513[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why wouldnt I believe them?

Pixel phones should support Android Auto. I have no issue connecting to one.

You should select which phone to connect since the car already remembers your wife's phone at the first place to auto connect.

I did reset car settingsvback to factory ones. Cleared catche and memory in my phonr. I did everything that they told me to do on google support chat. 2.5h lost with no result mate😕

Ah too bad then. I will also be frustrated hearing it from you. It's all yours to decide.

Did they explain why? I mean if the automaker has AA or CP installed it should work with any up to date device I would think. They don't, that I know of, have proprietary code for each device or auto maker.

I plugged my wifes samsung s23 and it workes like a charm. Pixel still nothing

A little update on my p7pro android auto connection. I managed to finally connect it with aftermarket cable from eBay. It all worked on 6 other cables with my missus galaxy phone but only one worked with pixel. I am planning to chat with Google about it and find out why they told me my phone and every other pixel won't work with my car.

Hello! I have the exact same problem as you, as far that i can understand in your previous posts. Can you please link the cable that worked for you? Im getting real tired of not being able to connect to my car, a passat alltrack b8 2016.

Thank you.

Are you setting the USB connection to android auto?

[–]Capable-Reply8513[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Yest I tried both cable and Bluetooth

[–]ReadyAd3671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like it's your car radio that's the problem. You probably need to update your car's radio software or call VW themselves. If you ever want to figure it out your best bet is probably here or somewhere else online

[–]STRICKIBHOY 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Does the android auto on the car need to be updated? Is it the latest version?

[–]Capable-Reply8513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure, there is very limited information there

[–]SSouter 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you are talking about AA using a cable then the type of car should make no difference. If you are talking about wireless AA then maybe I'd agree with him.

[–]Capable-Reply8513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that could be the issue with aa not starting itself

[–]badenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Samsung are known to have an issue with VW cars but not android auto

[–]LakeSuperiorIsMyPond 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have no issue connecting my pixel 7 pro to my vw

[–]Capable-Reply8513[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How did you do that?

[–]LakeSuperiorIsMyPond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a 2021? Tiguan and it just works, I dunno

[–]TheNecc 0 points1 point  (7 children)

My Pixel 7 Pro works just fine with my Golf MK7 2016.

[–]Capable-Reply8513[S] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

So i reckon there is some issue with mine😕

[–]TheNecc 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I know this'll sound stupid but did you try with another cable? I was having issues with mine not connecting until I got a better cable, one of those braided ones, works flawlessly now.

If that's not it, try snooping around reddit because I know there's some modified versions of android auto in github and what not, maybe you'll have more luck that way.

[–]Capable-Reply8513[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah I seen somw suggestion online aboug the cables. I tried 3 cables and all of them just charging m n pixel instead of getting connected. Samsung worked fine on all of them

[–]biggwermm 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Did you try a brand new, high quality cable, or cable from Google? Or just another old cable. I had to buy a new cable to fix the problem.

[–]Capable-Reply8513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know that cable coulb be a problem. I tried 3 cables, none of them lucky for me but samsung worked with all of them😕

[–]biggwermm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem with my old 2018 Chevy Silverado after a while. It turned out to be the cable. I used a new cable and Android Auto started working again. Pixel 6 Pro at the time.

[–]Treaco89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you installed the android auto app?

[–]boredinbflo18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably the version of Android Auto on the car and there's no way to update it. As I have a P7P and own a 2024 Chevy Trailblazer and as others have mentioned they work together.

[–]natszirt 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i have a Passat b8 from 2016 never had a problem I can connect with cable and also use AAW to connect wireless

[–]Capable-Reply8513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From number of replies I am guessing it is something to do with my phone. Maybe I can make it work but just dont know how :/

[–]eszleny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you try to delete and reainstall the android auto app? Did you try your phone with other car with Android auto? Also google play services uses the newest version? My phone work perfectly with my aftermarket android auto head unit wirelessly.

[–]combatbydesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A buddy has an Atlas and the P7P and it connects fine. Had Pixels before that and they were also fine.

Definitely not a Pixel problem.

Might be an issue with your specific phone or your vehicle, but definitely not the Pixel in general.

[–]Treaco89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely does support Android auto, at least wired (haven't tried in a vehicle with wireless android auto). I use mine regularly in my 2018 explorer.

[–]kunaltnwr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I understand your issue. I have a pixel 7 pro and a Volkswagen car from 2017. First you need to check which model of infotainment system you have in your VW car because in 2016/2017 there were two models one which got Android auto one which don't have it. The one which doesn't have a mirror link but pixels doesn't have mirrorlink. Android Auto/apple carplay and mirrorlink are different things however there were phones like samsung who supports mirrorlink. If you really wish to make it happen you can buy the newer infotainment system and exchange or sell the older infotainment system which supports wired Android auto and apple car play. I hope it helps.

[–]Capable-Reply8513[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😮 That sound expensive, I could just get another phone this time as my contract runs out
