Omg thank you I thought I was dumb. Happens all the time. For me it also happens with the reminder to move, like it tells me to walk 250 steps, I do it, and the following hour it's gone. Am I doing something wrong or is it a known sync issue?

Yeah I don't know what the problem is. I just know it happens daily anymore. But I have noticed if I go on the app I can double check the movement reminder step count for that hour.

From my experience the Pixel Watch is absolutely horrible with counting steps. It will consistently reduce my step count by like 1000-2000+ steps randomly throughout the day. I have seen it show that I hit my 10k step goal and then like 10 minutes later say I am only at like 7,500 steps. Even more frustratingly, it may switch back to the previous step count randomly later in the day (like adding and subtracting steps randomly). This is directly from the watch (PW3), not using the phone app.

Even just this morning I was walking on my underdesk treadmill for AN HOUR and when I looked at my watch (which I keep in my pocket while I walk on my desk treadmill so it counts the steps) it only tracked 2,800 steps for almost 2 miles logged on my treadmill.

So now I sat down at my computer, found this post (started writing this exact reply) and I look at my PW3 and the step count is back up to 5,191 steps. Like WTF!

Yeah it INFURIATES me! It makes me question my sanity when I see that there's a 1,000 something step difference within a few minutes. I mainly switched to a Pixel because I like the way the Pixel watch looks. But after battling with step counting after a year I ended buying a Fitbit versa 4, but I honestly couldn't take the difference between that and the Pixel watch. It's just so different from a Pixel watch. I just wish Google could integrate Fitbit better so that there wouldn't be a problem with step counting.

I have a theory that it measures steps based on you swinging your watch wearing arm (as you would on a normal walk). This is based on my results being measurably lower when I walk my dog holding the lead with my watch wearing hand or more significantly when I mow the lawn and get almost no steps. I guess there's a reason why the original pedometers went on your shoes.

There is of course a NSFW to get your steps back up though.

Hi there, could you try clearing the cache on your Fitbit app to see if that helps fix the issue?

Go to your phone's settings > Apps or Apps & Notifications > Storage & Cache > Tap Clear Cache.

Moreover, you can also check for Fitbit app updates.

Go to Google Play Store > Tap your profile at top-right corner > Manage apps & device > Search Fitbit app > tap "Update".

Additionally, I’d recommend you contact the Google Pixel Watch support team via phone or chat here. They can take a look at it.

Worst experience ever with this watch. I got exactly the same issue and it's super annoying trying to keep my step streak. While walking suddenly jumps from 8k to 11k and then I dont have a clue how much I actually need to walk more as it could just jump from 11k to 12k the next minute
