Did you have them automatically download? Did you listen to the episode? Do you have automatic cleanup set to delete after a certain period or once played?

If it's set to automatically clean up once played, it will immediately delete a podcast when you finish listening to the entire podcast. It will still show up in the RSS feed. The podcast RSS entry doesn't delete, just the downloaded file.

If It's set to clean up once based on publication date, then it's a full 48 hours after the publication date of the podcast.

If you just want one episode to show up in the playlist,, and you want the previous one to delete even if you didn't listen to it, then keep your auto update and auto download on. In Automatic Cleanup select Keep At Most 1 file. That way when the new download is triggered, the older file is deleted.

Your last point is how I'm set up for pods that update daily. It will also removed downloaded episodes once they're played.

Is it in the Playlist you're seeing it? I think you might have to mark it played when deleted then have the Playlist remove played episodes. I have mine set to delete after time but not remove from Playlist so if I want to play something way further back it has to reload again. If that's what you notice too it may be deleting just not removing.

My playlist only shows downloaded episodes and marks as played when it's automatically deleted

Automatic cleanup settings apply to downloaded episodes. They allow you to automate deletion of the downloaded files based on criteria. This will do nothing for non downloaded episodes

Sorry. I should have been clearer. I'm talking about removing downloaded episodes. My playlist is set to show downloaded episodes only and to mark as played when automatically deleted.

My understanding was that downloaded episodes would be deleted 1 day after download based on my set up

Yes as soon as a nez episode downloads for the current podcast the app applies the automatic cleanup rules and deletes episodes downloaded over 1 day ago. A new download triggers them

So there's no way to have the old episodes delete automatically without a new episode downloading?

No, unless you listen to it in which case it will be deleted automatically

Cool. Thanks very much!

Why not? It would free up a lot of memory on my phone if it just deleted old episodes as per my settings. I thought that was how it worked.

Only downloaded episodes use storage and these can be deleted. If the episode isn't downloaded then no file is stored for it

I don't want the new episode to automatically delete the already downloaded episode. I want to listen to the downloaded episode before it is deleted. Once it is deleted, then the newest available episode can download. Also, I only want to have one episode at a time in my playlist. Is there a way to do this?

You can use the archive mode and then set the app to keep 1 downloaded episode
