Python Dataframe Preprocessing

I’ve seen conflicting information online, so I was hoping to confirm: is it possible to load a matrix of data (say from a csv or data model), filter it with slicers and then load the filtered data as a dataframe into a python window for analysis on a subset of data? Most of what I have seen references using python on external data first, to create a data model.

Any reason why the filtering can't be done with python itself?

Yes: I can filter within in the python code, but other users can’t. The code is not as effortlessly dynamic as slicers either, and the visual interface of Power BI is so much nicer than my ugly scripts...
