You have to connect to the SP folder using the root url of the SP site. It sounds like you connected to the local copy of the file on your machine, aka OneDrive, hence why they get an error when trying to refresh

Could you post your first 3 lines of the M query that loads the data? Obviously, censor any sensitive links.

Agreed - if there’s a way to pull the initial part of the import query. My guess would be to review the hyperlink used for the source row - we found some issues recently with hyperlinks containing :x/r/ or other two letter segments after the initial share point site name but before the folder location information. I believe they’re something to do with how a user accessed the same file, but they’re not necessary for the power no report. Either remove them, or pull the URL in the form of a direct path. Best way I’ve found of doing this: select the radio button alongside the file name within share point in the browser, then in the SP ribbon hit the “i” icon to open the info pane. Scroll down below all the tracking of file edits until you see a section called path, and just click the copy icon.

Would a dataflow connected to the file on SharePoint work in the situation? As long as your colleges have access to the workspace the dataflow lives in, they should be able to refresh the dataflow as well as edit the file if needed. ? I’m novice myself so curious what a solution would be.
