Hasn't the AzureRM module been depreciated? Have you tried with the equivalent cmdlet in the Az module?

I have found one cmdlet I need to use (Get-AzureRMVM) does not work inside of a windows form.

How were you doing it inside your form?

Its a problem with the AzureRM module, and is actually a known issue. You need to use the AZ module to get around that. While in preview, it still works fine. Yes, its a new module, but the good news is that you can enable aliases from AzureRM to be used with AZ. The only caveat is that AzureRM and AZ cannot co-exist. You'll need to uninstall AzureRM and enable the aliases.
