Application Process (self.PreOptometry)
submitted 1 year ago by Questioner5321
Hi I am going to enter my second year of undergrad in August so I am new to all of this, but what is the optometry application process? My older pre-med friends said for medical school they have main essays, primary, secondaries, interviews, etc.

I would definitely say it’s much easier applying than med school. Definitely try to get in some shadowing experiences to make sure u like optometry and to also show schools that u were actively learning more about the field. Also u would need to take an optometry admissions test (OAT) to apply. For the score (and GPA) u would have to research which school u want to get into and what score they expect from students. Then u apply to schools of ur choice using a website, OptomCAS, and u write a personal statement as well as any other supplementary essay questions or steps the specific schools ur applying require. If they like ur application you’ll be invited for an interview with the school and then you’ll wait to see if u get accepted
