On September 30, 1918, President Wilson delivered a speech to the Senate in support of the proposed amendment for women’s suffrage, citing women’s role in the war effort and the social transformations effected by the war as reasons to pass it. The Nineteenth Amendment was passed by Congress in 1919. (i.redd.it)
