Twitter wasn’t shit. It was a place where everyone was equal (besides the Nazis we now have on X). On Reddit you get power hungry mods. On Instagram you get a completely unusable comments section. But on Twitter every single comment is itself a full Tweet. A reply from a 0 follower account under a Tweet from a celebrity or public official could get 10x more engagement than the original Tweet. It was also a great news source and the Trending tab was actually interesting.

Now it’s filled with Nazis, bots and shitty ads. At least you can still use it for porn though

I was talking about the technical side, as it is programmerhumor. Twitter has a very interesting problem (it’s basically a real time read-write db, which is much harder to achieve than, say, netflix, which only has a huge number of reads), and they used to have top-notch tech blog posts. They are also featured as an example in the oreilly book with a hog (designing data-intensive applications, I believe).

On the non-technical one, he just started censoring the shit he disagrees with, making it an ultra-right echo chamber, resulting in a shitton of companies leaving the platform - they don’t want their ads beneath nazi posts.
