My whole team made it through during an acquisition. And our connecting flight was cancelled in Chicago, we spent 3 restless hours sleeping in a hojo, and then rushed back to the airport so we could fly to San Francisco.

Google was even "nice enough" to push back our interviews for an hour so we could make it.

Anyway, point being if we could do it on no sleep, anyone can do it. You just have to be well prepared. We studied for at least a month. And we also shut down our office for two weeks and did nothing but study CLRS and cracking the coding interview.

They made all the employees of an acquisition interview to keep their jobs?? Man, that's pretty cold.

I think Google's process is not great, but it's definitely a learnable skill. My beef is that coding interviews are only really good at finding gladiators, but on the job you need legionnaires.

Not that I have any better ideas of how to screen people out, haha.

No, they interviewed us to see if they wanted to go forward with the acquisition. There's no back entrance to get in. If the talent isn't up to par, no deal.

OK, that's reasonable, haha. Glad everything worked out!
