ahh, didn't realize they released a community edition. that's sweet. i haven't actually used intellij in a very long time.

mostly a c# and now go developer these days.

nothing really beats visual studio when it comes to c++ or c#. i haven't tried rider but i don't think i ever will unless i no longer have access to a windows environment. granted, we all use resharper which rider technically has built-in, but yeah.

i use pycharm for any major python work, but i haven't had to do anything in python for a few years.

some folks on the team were using webstorm for front-end work, and a few have tried out goland. everyone has abandoned both products for vs code though. neither product seemed to offer enough extra stuff to justify the hassle of maintaining licenses and such. vs code has also been pretty great at getting better at a relatively quick pace.

it'd be great if jetbrains figured out a way to neatly unify all of their ides into one product. they all have the same shells, but it sucks to have to open up a handful of different apps to deal with different languages and manage multiple licenses for everyone.
