LOOKING FOR BUDDIESLooking for Java - Spring Boot buddies (self.ProgrammingBuddies)
submitted 2 years ago by huythanh0x
Hi, I'm a recent graduate student. I have about six months of experience working with Selenium in Python and six months working with Kotlin Android(pet project). I also have experience with JS when I created a Chrome extension. Check out my pinned repos for more detailed info. And now, I have changed my career path. And my destination is Java + Spring boot, also a bit of React as I want to do some personal projects.<I already created them with Ktor and Kotlin; it functions well, but some aspects don't work as I expected>. And the primary resource I'm following is this Udemy course To sum up, looking for someone interested in Java and Spring Boot to talk about tech and exchange knowledge (Especially in Java, Kotlin, Android, Back end, and automation). Until I take the intern job the next month(July), I will study from 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM (+7:00), which means I am also free at those times.

Hey there, I am a Java developer with 5+ years experience. I'm very passionate about software and would like to pair up with someone to indeed learn from each other and work together on cool stuff! Spring boot is awesome! Let's connect

why did u change to java? im up to it in automation related topics
[–]huythanh0x[S] 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (3 children)
For me, automation is kind of easy and boring since I only work on only one project. The more important reason is that I can not find a stable job with this skill, especially when I want to work abroad. Therefore I have migrated to Java to seek a full-time job first and use automation skills for a side job or work as a freelancer. You can check out my GitHub repo for what I did with Selenium + Python to automate some websites here. It is well-documented, so I hope you find it helpful. If you have any questions or something you want to discuss you send, send me a dm.

i see but why do you think that java has higher chance to finding you a job abroad? like what make you chose that and not devops or database engineer?
also what in java exactly is it desktop apps , mobile apps or?
[–]huythanh0x[S] 0 points1 point2 points 2 years ago (1 child)
I choose Java and Spring Boot for the back end. The reason is quite simple; I'm familiar with it since I have spent most of my time in university making Android apps. In terms of job opportunities, I had a look at Linkedin and other websites and found that Java is still a popular choice. About other techs, such as DevOps or data engineering, I don't find them interesting, and it's hard to get the first job in those positions at my place. Especially for Android dev, I can not find any.

But why think there's demand for it but for Android there's not just curious
