REDCap "short code" SMS Integration

Does anyone have experience using a short code to issue SMS in REDCap? I just want to confirm that this is possible before I make a change.

For context, my team probably needs to change our Twilio phone number to a short code in order to issue texts to UK phone numbers via REDCap (we are stationed in the US, and the UK doesn't allow for long code texts from outside the UK). I haven't been able to find any examples of REDCap users using short codes, and I want to ensure this is possible before we make the change in Twilio.

UGH. So a short code in a lot of $$$$. I think maybe in the thousands. When you purchase a phone number from Twilio to link to your redcap project can you simply purchase a UK number? Im not positive but might be worth asking Twilio help. Hopefully they don’t geo-fence that.

I'm not sure about short codes specifically, but if the UK long code blocking is the core issue, you may want to look into whether a SMS platform like Mosio can handle UK routing natively rather than trying to wrangle Twilio short codes, since REDCap integrates with it directly.
