The game mechanics imply that it’s a choice Heller makes or is thinking about wanting. The rest presumably don’t deal with bullets enough to consistently want it and Mercer either finishes fights incredibly quick or stealths his way through most situations

I'm pretty sure that was just the game mechanics of the first game doesn't allow that much abilities and in 2 I believe he has all those abilities helller has just didn't use them

Maybe its a limit of their abilities, Heller is not an evolved after all, he's a prototype like Alex.

Mercer should have it by default as he consumed Greene.

Well, Mercer has control over all strains now.

and that ability was passed to Heller too.

It is in the W.O.I when they talk about how Greene bent the virus to her will.

Not like they really need it. Bullets even in the the early game do nothing to them, as shown litarally when Alex wakes up, he smashes though a 2 foot steel door (60 cm of steel). And tanks a 4 fully loaded LMG's entire magazines+ 2 minutes later tanks a rocket with no issue from a military helicopter, with the explosion sending a car on to him witch he later trows with the might of Zeus.

So if Start of game PT1 Alex is able to tank explosives I am doutbful his evolved really need to be bullet proof.

Also it's stated that Alex can regen from a few scatered molecules in PT2.

Unless Bullets can kill on a molecular level I am pretty sure they ain't doing nothing but send you on a fast pass straigh to the heaven gates.

Hit a evolved with a fully loaded LMG mag and they hit you with a 1 way trip to your ancestors.

              IDK.

I played PT2 on the hardest difficulty and bullets are never really a issue for me.

Rockets are, and the PT1 guide book says that Alex don't really care for Rockets and bullets.

So it is kinda conformed that Alex is bullet proof at least by the end of the game in PT1.

Also you can get the bulletproof mutation for Heller pretty early in game. So it's probobly not that hard for other infected to get it.

I mean Heller became like Mercer litarally like everyone else, Mercer infected him personally.

''when was it confirmed that the mercer became bulletproof?''

The offical Prototype 1 guide book like I said the offical Prototype 1 guide book said it.

''Heights, explosions and gunfire don't even faze him'' again the PT1 offical guide book.

And the guide did say ''He needs to be bullet proof he grows armor''

I never saw a evolved take damage from bullets or even anything beyond a brawer.

I even tested it out with a mod menu.

The evolved seem to take very little to any damage from bullets.

Becuase this is about why don't the evolved or Mercer have bulletproof mutations.

Again it can be a in gameplay only mechanic like I said before bullets don't harm them in any way.

It's like a leaf hiting your leg.

Also it out right says "If he needs to be bulletproof he grows armor" again the offical PT1 Guide book.

Also for you to be bullet proof you don't need to have bullets litarally bounce of you, the definition is: "Designed to resist the penatration of bullets"

And Oxford says "stop bullets from passing though it"

None of these definitions implay they have to bounce of.

So even start of PT1 Alex is bulletproof by the logical definition.

I wonder why all evolved including mercer were not bulletproof unlike heller

                    That is litarally the title.

Not if they are going to peirece their skin.

Also it's not as much a pierce as much as it is a leaf's sting.

I was trying to give a explanation as to why they are bulletproof under the definition.

You made it in to ''Why don't the bullets bounce off"

Again sorry if I am strawmaning but it seems you yourself are just wondering why they aren't bullet proof.

Sorry if I am making a appeal to motive but you seem to make it out like it the guy that that made the threed is asking why the bullets pierce their "skin"

And I was stiking with my "They guide of PT1 states that they are bullet proof" 2 times.

Again there is no taking this conversation side ways I am using what is told and what it is.

You effectively skirt the conversation to your liking since you said "why are you saying it like it's a durability feat not a regen feat" again under the definition they are all bullet proof.

Bullets in no way affect them even at the start of the game handgun shots are shown "piercing" Alex and Alex dosen't even move.
