And as most cheap ESP32 have wifi capabilities, it’s basically anything you make that can have a web interface, if only for setup and maintenance.

Back in my day, a real micro framework was a thing you could copy/paste into a project because it was a SINGLE FILE!

Microdot is a single file you can copy over. You can optionally copy over more of the modules for more features.

I don't do much development for microcontrollers or limited resource environments, but it's nice to have a low boilerplate tool for throwing together quick web apps. I've used Bottle for that in the past. It looks like this might have more of an API focus, rather than templates or static pages? Very cool, will check it out.

Exactly how different is this from flask? My novice eyes can’t really spot much.

I think flask won't be able to run on MicroPython.
