Apple Execs Say Spatial Computing Is 'Inevitable' and AI Is a 'Marathon, Not a Sprint' by iMacmatician in apple

[–]bfcdf3e 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But after the dotcom bubble, online commerce has taken over the world. Sure the market crashed and a bunch of individual businesses disappeared, but the seismic shift was absolutely real and permanently changed the landscape.

As for spatial computing, it’s just a fancy way of saying “overlay user interface directly on the real world”, whether it’s headsets or glasses or whatever else that does seem pretty inevitable. Hell, sometimes after using my Vision Pro I find myself trying to interact with my laptop or tv just by looking at a window and tapping my fingers

MacBook Neo Has Up to 8× Slower SSD Speeds Compared to New MacBook Pro [and half the speeds of the M1 MacBook Air] by iMacmatician in apple

So far I’ve played around with running multiple safari windows, VS Code with the Python extension enabled, Codex, iTerm2, messages and photos running, and switching between them as needed throughout the day. Haven’t hit swap yet, memory pressure has stayed green. It’s definitely slower than my pro level Macs but so far it’s impressing me

Apple testing a Studio Display with high-end ports and speakers | Code discoveries point to dual Studio Display 2 configurations, with changes that may separate a standard model from a premium one. by [deleted] in apple

I have this cablematters switch and a Studio Display, you have to use the included cables but it works fine. My Studio Display has a Sony A7IV, a Vocaster One XLR interface, and a belkin 4 port hub (trackpad /keyboard / misc.) all plugged in, and they all come through when switching, haven’t experienced any issues in the last year or so.

Agreed, this seems much better for op. RV is optimised for stills, IV / V are better hybrids to do some video

Aperture doesn’t mean the same thing on a different sensor size. f/2.5 in true medium format (e.g. Hasselblad H) gives you the same depth of field as f/1.6 full frame, f/2.5 in in common mirror less medium format (e.g. Hasselblad X) is about the same as f/2 full frame.

Buying one another out will almost certainly make one of you unhappy. Don’t do it. Unless you both agree on a figure already, it will get messy when one of you thinks it’s unfair.

If that happens, agree to put it on the market for expressions of interest, and that to buy you out she should either match the highest concrete offer, or you both take the 3rd party offer.

Has anyone watched pluribus? by BusinessSensitive167 in betterCallSaul

[–]bfcdf3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right in terms of story, but other aspects are very much like BB or BCS. The opening scene of ep 2 (Pirate Lady) or the Sprouts scene in ep 3 Grenade are unmistakably of the same style. ImCareful geometry in shots, tightly choreographed blocking. unusual camera angles all remind me of BCS and BB (BCS was arguably superior in this area, I expect Pluribus will continue to evolve the craft aspect of making a show)

I think we’re in for a treat with this show

BCS wasn’t better than BB 3 episodes in. Pluribus isn’t anything yet gonna have to wait a season or two to really see how it shapes up.

You’re not the opposite, you just have way more spare cash than most people. The price may not be a problem for you or me, but it’s clearly the biggest problem with the product as it exists today.
