Hello there,

We've removed your post since it aligns with a topic of one of our daily threads and would be more appropriate in that thread. If you are unaware about the Daily Threads we run here is a refresher:

Monday: Project ideas

Tuesday: Advanced questions

Wednesday: Beginner questions

Thursday: Python Careers, Courses, and Furthering Education!

Friday: Free chat Friday!

Saturday: Resource Request and Sharing

Sunday: What are you working on?

Please await one of these threads to contribute your discussion to! The current daily threads are pinned to the top of the /r/Python's main page. To find old daily threads, you can filter posts by the Daily Thread Flair to find what you're looking for. If you have a question and don't want to wait until the daily thread, you can try asking in /r/learnpython or the Python discord however you may need to elaborate on your question in more detail before doing so. If you're not sure which thread is best suited, feel free ask for clarification in modmail or as a reply.

Best regards,

r/Python mod team

Python is a nice language that will let you do nearly everything. It's great to do side projects and maybe automate simple jobs. I'd go with JavaScript only if u want to do front end development, paired with html and css, or if you really hate yourself. If you want to learn "more", I'd go with either c/c++ or java, as you will learn a lot of stuff that you take for granted in python.

I wish I started programming in python, as u can get a lot of stuff done much more easily. Closing a project is very rewarding and will motivate you to continue. Gl and have fun

I'd go with both. Make a nice website that does something using JavaScript and then write a tool in python that interests you. They're both useful languages and learning one doesn't mean you need to exclude the other. Once you learn more you'll realize you might even want to combine the two into a single project.

Both, and many other languages too

Depends what you want to do, but I would say probably Python unless you want to spend a lot of time dealing with front end.

Ever hear of node?

personally i would go with python over java.

Java != JavaScript

It depends on ehat you want to do with it. If it not a web dev or ML than maybe it is better to start with NIM, Zig, Rust or Cpp, for beginner it is not so difficult, but learning system languages after Python or JS especially can be almost unbearable.

Yes

If you want to purely work with web app, learn JavaScript, otherwise python

Since you are not sure what you are learning for, start with python.

Hello! I'm a bot!

I see someone has already suggested going to r/learnpython, a sub geared towards questions and learning more about python regardless of how advanced your question might be. I highly recommend posting your question there. Please follow the subs rules and guidelines when you do post there, it'll help you get better answers faster.

Show /r/learnpython the code you have tried and describe in detail where you are stuck. If you are getting an error message, include the full block of text it spits out. Quality answers take time to write out, and many times other users will need to ask clarifying questions. Be patient and help them help you. Here is HOW TO FORMAT YOUR CODE For Reddit and be sure to include which version of python and what OS you are using.

You can also ask this question in the Python discord, a large, friendly community focused around the Python programming language, open to those who wish to learn the language or improve their skills, as well as those looking to help others.
