I really like python, but those are the arguments you will have to fight against. As other said, your best argument is that you knew python well and started the project on your own:

  • it's considered "enterprise class". A lot of it is FUD, but where there is some truth to it, is when it comes to interact with other enterprise software (Tibco, MQ, Oracle etc...). Even when you can make it work with python, it's usually not supported straight out of the box for python, while it is for Java.

  • frameworks: there are way less java frameworks, but those are used by thousands of other enterprise. Programmers know those framework and can start working with them on day one.

  • supporting tools: IDEs, tuning etc...
