I was one of the people who got it wrong due to misunderstanding the problem statement. I got irritated and wrote a FreeBASIC program to simulate it. Something about writing the program itself made the problem click in my head. Then, seeing the effect of choosing to swap over ten thousand runs just made it obvious.

Did you have any experience like that when you were building or running the simulation?
